Number of cases: 1126 Abstract: The research is the 15th conducted by the Institute for Public Opinion Research in Bratislava, which was the workplace of the Office of Information (Povereníctvo informácií) from 1947 to 1950. The research was carried out on 27 November 1949 and covers a wide range of topics: a comparison of how authorities treated citizens under the first Czechoslovak Republic, the Slovak State, and the current regime; citizens' experiences with the National Security (NB) authorities and an assessment of their fairness; attitudes towards the law on state financial support for churches and clergy; views on whether the establishment of the German Democratic Republic strengthens peace in Central Europe; assessment of whether the Germans will change and cease to threaten neighbouring nations; evaluation of which system (capitalist or socialist) can best guarantee the peaceful conduct of Germany; and the length, accommodation, transport, and expenditure of holidays. Note: the page with results for Question 2/A and the page with results for Question 5 were missing from the earlier scan of the archived document. Following a re-scan of the complete archival document, both pages were located and the data have now been restored in full in this and related documentation. SASD provides a reconstruction of the research results, based on final reports prepared for government authorities and the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Slovakia. Neither the data nor the original questionnaire are available; SASD offers a reconstruction of the questions used in the questionnaire and the basic results from the research are accessible online in an Excel file.
