It was co-coordinated by the Department of Social and Biological Communication of the SAS and the Institute for Public Affairs (IPA). The aim of the survey was to investigate the current state of citizenship and participation in Slovakia. In order to study trends, we included several questions that had been used in previous surveys by IPA, investigating these issues. The survey focused on the following clusters of issues: perception of the state of the current Slovak society and of its institutions, including trust in politicians and interest in politics; amount and forms of social engagement of respondents; political socialization; political self-efficacy vs. political alienation; social identifications of respondents as well as perception of the status of various social groups, including migrants. Another part of the COPART project, related to the survey "Citizenship and Participation in Slovakia, November 2008", was the representative survey concerning the perception of minorities "On the Path towards Equality: Improving the Knowledge and Multilevel Strengthening of the Civil Society and Public Actors in the Domain of Antidiscrimination". This survey was carried out between May 14 and May 21, 2008 by the FOCUS agency. The main coordinating body of this partner project was the NGO Citizen and Democracy, cooperating institutions - IPA, PDCS Slovakia and Head 98.
