The stratification criteria used in the selection of 120 Primary Sampling Units (PSUs) were the regional division of Slovakia into 8 regions (NUTS III level) and the degree of urbanization, expressed by categorizing settlements based on population size into 7 categories (up to 1,000; 1,000-1,999; 2,000-4,999; 5,000-9,999; 10,000-19,999; 20,000-49,999; 50,000-99,999; 100,000+ inhabitants). The PSUs were selected with a probability proportional to the parameters of the target population (residents of Slovakia aged 18+ years). In each PSU, 15 households were selected. The total number of selected addresses/households was 1 800 (120 PSUs x 15 addresses = 1,800). In each PSU, the interviewer was randomly assigned a starting/initial point from which they began a "random walk". This method ensures that even households that might be missed in the household register for various reasons (e.g., moving, new construction, dwelling in an unapproved building, etc.) have a chance to be included in the sample. In settlements with named streets, a map was used to select the starting point, on which a street was "randomly" determined, and a point on it represented the starting point for the random walk. In municipalities with unnamed streets, a "significant" building (e.g., church, train station, municipal office, etc.) was designated as the starting point for the random walk. From the selected point, the interviewer proceeded according to precise random walk rules, seeking out (contacting) every third household. The interviewer recorded their procedure on a special control sheet to allow for subsequent verification of the correctness of household selection. At the selected addresses, interviewers attempted to conduct an interview with the household member, aged 18+ years, who was randomly selected by software. This required the interviewer to create a list of all adult household members at the beginning of the interview. Number of cases: 1025 Abstract: The research is composed of two modules of international comparative research: ISSP National Identity and Citizenship 2023 and the post-election study CSES Module 6. The ISSP module focuses on national identity and its defining factors. A key component is also the measurement of national pride in various areas (e.g., democracy, sports, history) and the examination of attitudes towards international relations and the restriction of foreign goods imports. An extensive block of questions is also dedicated to attitudes towards immigration and the perception of various aspects of good citizenship (obeying laws, helping people, military service). The post-election CSES research addresses the political environment in Slovakia, evaluating the functioning of democracy in the present, past, and future, the importance of rights in a democracy, and economic topics. The core of the study is a detailed analysis of the 2023 parliamentary elections, including voter turnout, the choice of a specific party, satisfaction with the choice, and the assessment of the fairness and equitable nature of the elections. The questionnaire maps the sympathies and ideological alignment of the main political parties and their leaders, trust in key institutions, and the role of women in politics.
